Welcome back! Hope you all had an awesome break. Just a reminder to refrain from updating to Mavericks, Mac's new OS X. Now that Apple has finished OS X Mavericks, looking over the features and I'm not sure if we should upgrade right away. I don't know if any of the changes would really help and at this point we don't want to introduce new bugs and software incompatibilities. For instance, there are issues with Java and PowerTeacher Gradebook, and we are still testing with other applications. Moreover, switching to this new operating system will erase the applications provided by the school and the data that you have in your laptop. I will advise when and how we will be updating.
Overall, OS X Mavericks doesn't offer many compelling reasons to upgrade
right now. We highly recommend waiting
until Apple fixes most of the bugs and rolls out at least one update
to the first version. If you really require one of the flagship
features, however, go ahead and upgrade now. Although imperfect, it
will work reasonably well and won't cost you anything but time. Find more information about Apple OS X Mavericks here. You can also find information about Mavericks System Preferences here.
On a different note, you will also notice the wireless networks have been combined down to 2 or 3. You should be connected to the capital 'W' - Wireless.
