Day 2: Sharing Scratch Projects, Introduction to Robotics and LEGO Mindstorms, Let's get ready to rrrrrumble!

This is one of my favorite days. The day when the Lego Mindstorms sets are actually given to the students. Today, after completing a final task using Scratch as seen below, we went thorough an introduction to robotics. After watching a video, students were ready to have real contact with a robot. However, it was important to take some time to set some rules of use of the equipment and behavior in the class. These rules will be consistently brought to their attention, since it has been our common agreement.

I have to admit that students worked with dedication in making an inventory of their 9797 Mindstorms sets before building their first robot. During the course of the day, they began to explore movement and the use of some sensors. What a memorable day. Lots of learning and fun.
