iTunesU - A simple but effective plaform for delivering content

Every semester, the Adult Education Program offers parents and community members a chance to learn something that people offer. This time I have opened a class called "Mac Basics". In this class, I plan to teach adults how to use their Macs efficiently without relying on someone else to get things done. In previous sessions, I have used Haiku Learning as a learning management system. This time I want to give iTunesU another go.

Even though the platform feels a bit pale and simple, in reality it can be a very effective in keeping every class member informed. For example, I have added a post today with information about how to use the Finder.

In my iPhone, I can see a small blue dot on the list under "Desktop and Finder Basics".

When I open that post, I get to see this link to an Apple page with great information that summarizes what I did in class today. Now, this site was not hard to find but I did Google it. This is what I typed in the search box:

site:apple.com finder

Even this simple act of searching for information is something that we should always try to teach kids so that they can gain access to credible and meaningful information.
