We have started the second trimester and I feel very excited to work with my new classes. At the beginning of the term, we reflected on the importance of Software in our lives. I showed a couple of videos to my students like Did You Know 4.0, an introduction to Scratch by Mitchel Resnick from MIT, USA, as well as an intro video to Scratch.
Students have already been introduced to Scratch and the Scratch interface, including the stage and (x,y) coordinates. They have now written their their first program and incorporated movement to their sprites. Starting from this week I would like my student to learn how to add comments to their scripts and how to add notes to describe their projects in Scratch. Students also know how to import a sprite from a library and from an external source. They have learned how to edit a sprite (using the Paint Editor) including how to resize it (using the tools at the top of the Stage).
So far so go. After introducing the concept of "Algorithm", I challenged my first IT group to solve a problem. The following link will take you to the Scratch Web site project that I created as a sample project to introduce a couple of scripts. Please download the project and analyze my code. In addition, I want you to leave a comment at the bottom of my project so that I know that you have visited the project. All the necessary information about this project and the explanation of Algorithms is in the PantherNet Course page under Lesson 4.
During my next sessions I will explain the topic of Attribution of Images from the Internet. Meanwhile you can read the information in the course page.
